About us

The river cottage Alma welcomed its first guests on the Porvoonjoki River in the summer of 2019, when designer and builder Jani Harju brought his vision of unique floating cottages to life. By the following summer, Wilhelmina had joined alongside it.

After five years, the cottages needed a new home, as continuing operations in Porvoo was no longer possible due to permit restrictions.

Fortunately, the cottages found a new location in Turenki, Janakkala, along the Hiidenjoki River—thanks to the supportive attitude of the local municipality. Before the 2024 summer season opened, the cottages underwent a thorough renovation both inside and out to provide guests with an even more comfortable experience.

I’m Anu, the host of the river cottages. I warmly welcome you to experience the unique atmosphere of our floating cottages in Kanta-Häme, Turenki, Janakkala—right by the Hiidenjoki River.
